Manufactured Authenticity

by Genr8 Music

Manufactured Authenticity questions how much of the music industry’s idea of ‘real’ is actually carefully constructed. It looks at image, branding, marketing and the pressure to package rebellion, personality and emotion into something commercially acceptable. The song challenges the double standard of calling new creative tools ‘fake’ while so much of the industry is already shaped behind the scenes. It’s less about attacking artists and more about asking a simple question: if authenticity can be manufactured, who gets to decide what counts as real?
